How to fix pulled Bicep Femoris muscle? Pony

Pony has pulled her bicep femoris muscle in the paddock and physio has said to walk and trot for 2 weeks, lots of leg yielding in order for the pony to use the pulled muscle and help it heal as it should. 1st week on the flat, 2nd week going up hill, then she should be okay to canter again. Problem is this pony only knows the basics of flat work and is just coming back into work so is rather forward and full of herself! Physio also said to massage the area every day with 3 different objects each day for the 2 weeks, so say a tennis ball one day, then a tail comb the next, etc.

Has anyone else had to heal this muscle and how did you do it! Any other suggestions welcome.
